Mapping invisible routes
For those at sea, staying on course is a constant challenge. When dealing with the elements, nothing is certain and constant reaction is required to stay in the right direction. Since its launch in 1992, the Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master has been equipped with a bidirectional rotatable bezel that facilitates the calculation and reading of navigational time. Elegantly combining functionality and nautical style, this watch has made its mark well beyond its professional realm.

A joint journey towards exactness
Understanding one's position in both space and time, charting a course, and adhering to it are fundamental aspects of navigation. Watches serve as indispensable tools for sailors to determine their precise location. Since the 18th century, marine chronometers have been recognized as the most accurate timekeeping instruments globally, with their precision certified by astronomical observatories. Notably, the Kew Observatory in Great Britain was esteemed as the ultimate authority for assessing chronometric accuracy during that era.

Fashioned for adventurers
Sailing holds a distinguished position in Rolex's heritage. In 1958, the brand established a partnership with the New York Yacht Club, renowned for founding the iconic America’s Cup. Over the years, Rolex forged alliances with elite yacht clubs worldwide and became synonymous with prestigious nautical events, including offshore races and coastal regattas.
This deep connection reached its pinnacle in 1992 with the debut of the Yacht-Master. Combining the durability and waterproof capabilities of the Oyster case, this chronometer features a bidirectional bezel with raised 60-minute graduations, designed for precise navigational timekeeping.

"This Yacht-Master 42, which is an outstanding nautical watch, is also proof of Rolex’s firm commitment to yachting."
Sir Ben Ainslie

Valuable both on land and at sea
Offered in three sizes — 37, 40, and 42 mm — and crafted in various premium materials including 18 ct yellow, white, and Everose gold, as well as Everose Rolesor and Rolesium, the Yacht-Master stands out in Rolex's professional watch collection. This sophisticated timepiece with a sporty edge was the first to feature the Oysterflex bracelet in 2015.
In 2023, after rigorous real-world testing by renowned helmsman Sir Ben Ainslie, Rolex unveiled a new Yacht-Master 42 crafted from RLX titanium — a lightweight, robust, and corrosion-resistant high-performance material.
A true companion at sea, the Yacht-Master also graces the wrists of navigators with effortless elegance on land. With its diverse variations, it transcends its nautical origins, becoming a symbol for those who navigate life's changes while staying focused on the horizon.
